With Smart Torque Controller and Programmable Assembly Process
Assembly Automation offers innovative, robust, and lightweight tooling for robots. Our innovative screw-driving techniques provide consistent quality, decreased production costs, and increased assembly output.

SINGLE SPINDLE

Innovative tooling, high-quality torque drivers and readily available components produce systems that are durable, customer-friendly and good value. We use components from our own machines or outsourced from local aerospace quality suppliers. Customers have the choice of precision electric or pneumatic screwdrivers from Atlas Copco, Bosch, Stanley or Cleco.

Tooling is all air-hardened tool steel from inserts in the high wear areas in the bowl through the escapement into the receivers. Tooling variations to handle single spindles, inverted driving and vacuum extensions are just a few of the options available.

MULTIPLE SPINDLES

  • SMP-998 packages multiple screwdrivers, into a pre-assembled station.
  • A rigid ground steel base and square support column provide a highly stable platform.
  • Head approach and bit stroke are independently adjustable.
  • Screwdriver motors and bit holders are easily serviced without realignment.
  • Compact head tooling is positioned on the customer’s hole layout.
  • Easy to replace sub-plates allow hole layouts to be changed for retooling.
  • A large Junction Box is included to terminate sensors.
  • A central manifold provides multiple air outlets for up to 8 tools.
  • Pneumatic or Electric tools may be used with torque up to 30 Nm.
  • Cross roller or linear ball slides provide long life and low maintenance.
  • The open frame construction provides superior access compared with individual enclosed designs.
  • Externally adjustable clutches allow torque adjustment without removing the tool.

VACUUM FIXTURED SCREWDRIVER SPINDLE

The SKYLOG fixtured systems feature a highly reliable and rugged design which is the standard within the industry for fixed spindles. These units are for use on a single stage application or when a robot or other slide will bring the driver spindle closer to the work pieces for installation of the fastener. The special Vacuum nosepiece and Vacuum bit can be instructed to self advance its bit stroke device and install fastener while detecting that the depth was achieved or not. When the start signal is given usually through a PLC control system to a solenoid valve the vacuum bit advances forward out of the jaws to expose the bit and fastener .

This proven design can get into access location normally unachievable by conventional means, and allows fasteners to be installed down into deep recesses.

Customization is performed on most systems to ensure the utmost functionality for each fastener size and style. This device can accommodate almost any style of Pneumatic or Electric motor drives and can be used singly or in multiples for more complex fastening . They can be used at any angle and even upside down for those difficult inverted applications., and these are often fitted with sensors to provide input to a PLC for control or reporting functions.

SMART TORQUE CONTROLLER

The control unit monitors and controls the screwdriving system.
The choice of the control unit may depend on :

  • the type of screwdriving system (handheld or automatic screwdriving unit)
  • the number of screwdriving systems to be controlled
  • the parameters to be monitored

The complexity of tasks such as singling and feeding of fasteners or the sequence control of multi-spindle screwdriving systems is essential for the selection of the proper control unit.

Apart from our standard units any control unit requested by our customer (operational guidelines, technical specification) is available and will be built and programmed.
